So.. Nobody has gotten it yet? I tought it was finished because it was sort of implemented in the trailer and the WotLK soundtrack was released almost right after they launched the first trailer. Perhaps anyone can pull the music out of that trailer? :)

WotLK music was published not long after the Wotlk intro movie was shown for the first time, not the wotlk trailer. That's a big difference:)

agree with sacrenouille... I searched for the WotLK trailer music for a long time, but only got it after the GAME launched... but it was worth the wait... :)

So i still need to wait more then a year.  :-\

Isn't there a way to extract the music from the released trailer?

You can also buy the collector's edition of WoW: Cataclysm.  I know with Wrath they included the OST as a bonus with it.

:)

Given what Russel Brower has come up with for StarCraft II and Wrath of the Lich King title screens alone, I'm sure this one's gonna kick ass big time as well. I can't wait for another 7-minute suite of pure awesomeness!

WotLK cinematic intro (and I guess SCII as well) was composed by Neal Acree, not Russell.

I am not a big fan of Russell's compositions. I missed the sense of cadence of Jason. If you listen well, the best part of the Wotlk soundtrack are bits of themes composed by Jason originally. Even the Wotlk cinematic intro theme was composed by Jason for the Frozen Throne ending cinematic.

Oh yes, I was referring to the title screen music, not the cinematic cut-scenes. Sorry for the misleading post!

That's exactly why I like the stuff. He uses Jason's tunes and puts them in the hands of a mighty orchestra. That's something I would have loved Jason to do but I think at the time it wasn't feasible to do so, and now, well, he's no longer with Blizzard. Shame.

Well, for cataclysm, I guess that's what we all expect. The Azeroth "old" world will be revamped and redesigned, so we expect the old music to be refreshed as well. Same themes, new sound. And GOOD sound :)

mmm. I'm not sure if getting "revamped and redesigned" means there is much hope for the return of the old in-game themes to be honest. They're heading towards a territory for which there hasn't been any contributions by Jason, I guess. I mean, I'm not a geek when it comes for lores and stuff but that dragon fella hasn't been featured in any WarCraft games since WC2: Beyond the Dark Portal. Should be interesting to see what they come up with nevertheless. Like I said, I'm all up for another 7-minute bombastic orchestral/choral title screen music! That's all I care about when it comes for World of WarCraft anyway!

Sure for Deathwing's theme, but for old zone that are all being redesigned, I'm looking forward old theme being refreshed reorchestrated. The barrens wouldn't be the barrens with the kalimdor theme (heard in the intro of "a call to arms"), same thing for the main city themes, ashenvale, etc. Of course these new piece of music will have to reflect the world's changes as well (ashenvale being partly destroyed, it won't be as eerie and magical as before, for instance)

mmm, that sounds very interesting. Really curious if anything happens to Duskwood during this process, both physically and musically. Ooooh, that creepy, Diablo-like zone. Jason's music there was SO effective.

I've not been so much near Duskwood as I was playing Horde ;)

No Duskwood raids? I remember my old (5-years old!!) Paladin got his @$$ kicked so many times in that very zone by you Horde folks! haha ah good times, good times... well... in *some* perspective at least! :P

Anyway, back to our main topic!

Have you noticed by the way how bad the cataclysm trailer backtrack is ? It doesn't sound any epic, sounds more like a draft of some kind without any ambition. I hope they come up with a real main theme and some thrilling soundtrack by the time the extension comes out :)

I agree. It sounds more like an expermental piece. (A rather expensive experimental piece that is.) But I admit I actually like that chaotic sounding chorus from the Blizzard logo bit. THAT is Cataclysm!

I don't suppose they'd want to give away all the goods with just a demonstration video though; and given that StarCraft II (which had been in development for years) still doesn't have all the musical pieces for each faction at its Beta stage, I'd say everything we hear here is incomplete and may indeed be experimental (again, a rather expensive experiment!). I mean, I remember back when the original World of WarCraft was still under development, two *cinematic* trailers were emerged, both with different music, none of which made it to the final game in any form. Of course, unlike for those two, I really hope THIS time the current music has nothing to do with what they're cooking for Cataclysm, musically! :P

Anyway, having learned that Chris Metzen is the voice behind many of my favorite characters in Blizzard universes (such as Thrall in this video), I actually pay more attention to THAT than I normally would nowadays. In some sense I'd say the quality of voice acting in all Blizzard games had somewhat deteriorated since the arrival of World of WarCraft but still they're distinctively better than many of the games out there, and Chris Metzen sure still delivers. I actually think it is his voice acting that saved this video.

I played Wow in french, so with french voices, and I like them. The casting is great. Tauren male are voiced by the same french actor who voiced Morpheus in Matrix, humans are voice by the french comedian who voice Duncan McLeod in Highlander TV show, etc. Very good voice actors.

Interesting. I'd welcome the same idea in English for Cataclysm if feasible even though I'm sure one may argue that there is not that much voice acting involved in World of WarCraft as a whole anyway so why invest on that? (And Deathwing doesn't exactly need a voice actor, but rather a sound designer!)

Wrath of the Lich King's soundtracks were magnificent in my opinion, and I wonder how they will approach the music this time the music from the trailer sounded great! It is very classic. I would like to hear new scores for all the Old-changed zones, more fresh and atmospheric to the zone's new state but still may have some root elements from the old tune/melody of 'said' zone.
