I just wanted to say, I LOVE the music you've done, and was curious if you have the lyrics for the cinematic of World of Warcraft.  That is one of my favorite songs now, and listen to "A Call to Arms" and that one all the time.  (I should also mention I'm a soundtrack buff.  John Williams is probably my favorite, but with you mentioning that you might do film music, all the better!  (I am actually going to be applying for USC or BYU film school soon.)

Thanks Michael!

The WoW Intro movie lyrics are pretty much Latin, but certainly not grammatically correct! It is basically a collection of images that I thought was appropriate to the Warcraft saga, without regard to sentence structure. There are references to things like battle, struggle, loyalty, and honor throughout the text. Because they aren't coherent sentences, a direct translation would sound very odd! Also, I took some liberties in the sound of the syllables in a few places to make some of the phrases flow better. I figured that language has probably developed a little differently in the World of Warcraft, so why not Smiley

Desideratus Fatum!

Hmm. Well, I am not very good at discerning texts at the best of times, but in a musical context I find it even more confusing. However, given that I have been unable to find the published lyrics for the World of WarCraft cinematic music, I have been trying to tanscribe it myself.

It is pretty much wrong, but I was hoping Jason might be able to point me in the right direction with my errors, if he isn't allowed to actually state what they are.  Smiley

Like I said, this is a pretty atrocious effort on my part (since I am not good with voices), so try to hold back your laughter (at least when posting).

I have only done the first part, from when we first see the dwarf, until the night elf starts running:

corli terre, sabutare,

coa presto, matue,

fori terro, ventu safe

fenlere relari, coli coeli oa,

colare . . .

Like I said, it's not very accurate, but it's an attempt. Can anyone point out any corrections?

Quote from: "Sylvos"
Okay, for those fans who haven't got the lyric to 'A Call To Arms', I post it here. I can say it by heart now! I hope that they're correct. Enjoy!

Gloria
Honorifice
Pralium Facio
Animus
Gradior Quo
Prodo,

In Excelsis
Precedo
Bellator
Decerte
Adversa
Incurro
Invadoria

Desideratus Fatum!
Desideratus  Bellum!

I came here wondering if I could find rough translations to the vocals in the WoW cinimatic music, but found there really aren't any.  But in the process I came across this post and thought I might have something to add.

When "A Call to Arms" came out with the War3 trailer, they included a rough translation of the choral part.  I want to say it was in a text file with the zipped movie, but it might have been posted somewhere on Blizzard or Jason's site.   It's a good thing too, because using a latin dictionary won't get you anywhere looking up each word out of context (don't get me wrong - I love it!)

Here it is in it's original form:

*****

Quasi-psuedo-Latin lyrics:

Gloria
Honorifice
Pralium Facio

Animus
Gradior Quo
Prodo

In Excelsis
Precedo
Bellator
Decerte
Adversa
Incurro
Invadoria

Desideratus Fatum
Desideratus Bellum

-----------------------------
Badly translated lyrics:

Glory
Honor
Join the battle

Courage
By marching into death
We are delivered

Excellence
In the highest
The Warrior
Will fight to the finish
Against all opposition
Attack!
Invade!

Welcome to destiny
Welcome to War

Unfortunately there does not appear to exist a transcription of the World of WarCraft opening cinematic lyrics.

Quote from: "Melda"

corli terre, sabutare,

fori terro, ventu safe

fenlere relari, coli coeli oa,

I hear this :

colicere, salutare,

coa presto, matuere,

foriceno, ventu safe

fenlere relari, toli celi oa,

volare . . .

Jason, help !

There are other lyrics later in the music, but I can't transcribe it, it's too difficult to understand

I'm pretty sure of the words "salutare" and "ventus acre". Other than that, I would just be writing down random words...I must say though, I have been wondering about these lyrics for a while now, but more so for the Arthus' betrayal cutscene lyrics. The only ones I can make out from that are Gloria, Honorifice, Maleficus (I think).

We cannot sanction the advertising of illegal means of acquiring Jason's music, so if you purchase a copy of World of WarCraft, you can use an MPQ editor to extract the music from the game, as long as you do not distribute the extracted music.

As far as I understand the end user licence agreement, anyway.
