World of WarCraft: Burning Crusade's Intro movie can now be watched on WOW's web. It has a cool music which has several nods to what Jason made back on the original WOW game. Make sure you check that clip out!

I wonder who did the music for this clip...

I think the music of this trailer is fully orchestral. If that's true, then I wonder why Blizzard never used an orchestra to record any of Jason's music.  :?

Reasons why game companies don't use live orchestras:
  • Not willing to expend the money on it, when synths are much cheaper.
  • Not willing to expend the time on it, as there is a lot more preparation and organisation involved in live performances than there are in using synthetics.
  • All that messing around with recording equipment that they don't need to worry about with something already in a computer.
Those are just some thoughts that come to my mind.

If they are using live ensembles, then that's excellent. Smiley

On the leaked TBC video that came some days before the oficial one, it showed a live orchestra playing music while the intro video played on a big screen.

Hmm. Yeah I thought it sounded largely like a real orchestra. Especially when it gets to near the end, with that really good march type part. The choir sounds just a little more natural than sampled ones ^^. In the future though, eventually, it'll probably be impossible to tell ^^. That's good though, that it's a live performance. I haven't heard any of the rest of the soundtrack but I'm guessing there would only be a few other recorded ones, and the rest would be sampled/synths.

So does the main title, The Burning Crusade.

Well, we didn't have The Frozen Throne cinematic music but at least a very small portion of "Terror of the Tides" can be heard somewhere within "The Dark Portal" track. Overall my impression of this score is the similarities it bears with Lord of the Rings scores. At least in the cinematic music.

I don't really know how dude. But the entire album sounds absolutely fantastic. It leaves me wondering what would it be if they had Jason's music performed with real instruments. That I ask because there are some tracks in the album that are variations on thems that Jason composed back for the original game and they sound absolutely fantastic.

To be honest I can't wait for these guy's work on the second expansion set and maybe future Blizzard games, should they get involved! Burning Crusade's soundtrack truely deserves the prince I paid for the entire Collector's Edition, alone!

Try opening the music in WMP (or the media player of your choice, if you can view the composer) and in the listing of tracks that's not the playlist (under library), right-click on one of the headings and select composer.  Then see if they embedded the data in the files.  I'm assuming for a CD like this, they would have, assuming your computer/ripper picked it up.

Loose English translation of the lyric

By the light, by the light of the sun
Children of the blood
Our enemies are breaking through
Children of the blood
By the light
Failing children of the blood
They are breaking through
O children of the blood
By the light of the sun
Failing children of the blood
They are breaking through
O children of the blood
By the light of the sun
The sun

Excellent work. Smiley

I still think it's weird that 'Anar'Alah' is prounounced 'Anar'Aylay', though. :S
